Ms. S. made me color the picture over again. My kindergarten teacher said it was not correct. So, I did it again and still it was wrong according to her. Finally, she gave me the crayons that she wanted me to use, and I applied them as instructed. Years later my Driver's Ed. teacher thought I was lying when I told him I could not see the numbers in the dotted circles. I remember him having an epiphany as I insisted that I could not see them. “Oh my goodness! You are colorblind!” He was amazed and I was relieved. It explained a lot of things in my world.

Being colorblind meant that I saw the world a little differently than everyone else. I enjoyed colors, they just were a little altered from the colors that others seem to see. As I have grown as a student of God’s Word, I have found a similar experience. The more I get to know him through reading and studying, the more I have found that I sometimes have an altered version of life from the world’s point of view.

I believe that sin has forever tainted how we were intended to see God’s creation and His plans for our lives and our world. If we only live in the world and exist as people trudging through this life, we will find that we tend to adopt the worldview of our culture and of those around us.

However, when we spend time in the heavenly, and intentionally fill our thoughts and actions with Him, we find that we are often moving counter-culturally. C.S. Lewis said that “when the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind.”

It is important for us to know we have not lost our minds! We are simply seeing through healed eyes the glory of God and the plan of God. We are successful in this when we resolve to be alright running against the current.

If you are growing in Christ, be encouraged! You are not losing your mind when you don’t see everything like everyone else. You are being renewed and transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Invite Him today to continue opening your eyes to see His world His way!
