Yesterday morning, we gathered for prayer before our church service. The words, “Let’s invite the Lord to be with us,” were spoken—and I froze. Even as they were said, I realized we had it backwards. What we should have said was, “Let’s prepare ourselves to be in God’s presence.” God is always before us and always at work ahead of us. We do not invite God to be about our agendas; we have the honor of participating in His! God does not need an invitation; He desires our attention.
