Beyond What We Imagined

“…we had hoped he was the one who was going to…” Have you ever hoped for something from God that didn’t go the way you wanted? Of course you have—we all have.

The story of the Emmaus Road reminds us, however, that we often underestimate what God is doing. They hoped for a change in their nation; God instead changed all of history. Because we can’t imagine more, we often settle for very small dreams and ask for very limited things in our prayers. God’s ways are so much higher and fuller than ours. It is to our benefit to learn to trust Him in our prayers and our dreams. Instead of disappointment, we will find hope when we do.
